Alonzo Mingos[1]

Alonzo Mingos (F4) was born April 1, 1818 at Lansing, Tompkins County, New York to Conrad Menges (c1777-1863) and Sarah _____ (c1779-1853). His brother John Mingos (1800-1871) also married while the family lived in Lansing.

Alonzo first married Percilla Bois (1823-1863) about 1842 in Monroe or Asylum, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.

Alonzo later married Cornelia David (1832-1899) on September 25, 1864.

Alonzo died June 27, 1884 at Towanda, Bradford County, Pennsylvania. He is buried in Cole Cemetery, Towanda Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania next to his first wife.

1884, June 27 - OBITUARY, ALONZO MINGOS Bradford Republican Newspaper, 7/10/1884
"DIED MINGOS AT MONROETON, June 27, Mr. Alonzo Mingos, aged 66 years. Mr.Mingos was born in Tompkins Co,NY April 1,1818. He was of German descent, his (g) grandfather having come from Germany. When about 19 years he come to Bradford Co where he has resided till his death. He leaves a wife (Cornelia) and four children to morn his death. ( Edward,Warren,Charles,Legrande).

"Alonzo MINGOS, farmer and youngest son of Conrad to come to Monroe Twp, m. Pursila Bois (Boice) as soon as they appeared on Hollon Hill. Their 1st ch:Edward E. was b. 1844 and named after a Bois that d in 1844. Alonzo bought land in Monroe Twp in 1845 and maybe moved into the original farm after Sarah's death in 1853. There is an 1857 letter in his handwriting. Only his son, Edward, had a child that continued this line. A marker for Alonzo was placed in Coles cemetery beside Pursila."
