Conrad Menges (F3) was born about 1777 in Forks Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania to Conrad Menges (1757-?) and Maria _____. He married Sarah _____ (c1779-1853) about 1796.

"Coonrad's (F3) early history in Mt. Bethal Twsp, Easton, Pa is numerous. His land records are at the Easton Ct. House. He attended the Upper Mt. Bethal Lutheran Reformed Church. His service in the War of 1812 is documented with original papers on file at the National Archives, Wash. D.C. : 1855 Bounty-Land-Warrant Application Files #249433 and #2094-120-55. He served from Sept. 17, 1814 in the Company of Capt. William Fischer. He became sick with rheumatism and was sent home, his eldest son Peter (F4) substituting for him in Nov. 1814, and serving at Marcus Hook, Pa near Chester. Conrad signed a receipt Nov. 10, 1814 - Pa. Archives 6th Series, Vol 7, p205."[1]

"Between 1815 and 1818 he left Portland, Upper Mt. Bethal Twsp, and went to Lansing, Tompkins Co, NY. Little is known of his activities there, other than that Alonzo (F4) was born and John(F4) married a neighbor's daughter, Nancy Shaver."[1]

"He arrived in Independence, NY, Allegany Co, near Andover on April 15, 1823. He bought land on the high ground above Fullner Valley. The 1856 land maps of Allegany Co[, New York], surveyed by G. Beckler in the Library of Congress Map Division show the properties of his sons George (F4) and Charles (F4) occupying the original purchase, and that of his son Conrad (F4), b. 1825. His eldest son Peter is in the 1830 Census of Tyrone, Steuben Co, NY."[1]

"He again moved in Dec 1837 to new farm land in the Liberty Corners area, Monroe Twsp, Bradford Co, Pa. It is the opinion of Harold Kilmer, Sr. that Coonrad lived in the house Benjamin (F5) occupied, and now [1977] owned by John Byrne. however he also showed the cellar ruins of another house a few yards away, just on the Monroe side of the hold Monroe-Asylum border. This is more likely the original house. He said that Albert Mingos was the last to occupy this place on Ellis Hill."[1]

Conrad died August 16, 1863 in Liberty Corners, Monroe Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania. He is buried in the Liberty Corners Cemetery. A replacement (newer) headstone marks his final resting place.
