Edward E. Mingos (F5) was born March 1844 in Monroe Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania. His parents were Alonzo Mingos (1818-1884) and Percilla Bois (1823-1863).

He worked in the stores and was a teamster.

Edward served in the 188th New York Volunteer Infantry regiment, enlisting on September 19, 1864 at Rochester, New York as a Private. He served in H Company. Some records have his name as "Edward E. Mingas", which might reflect his accent (i.e. emphasis to help clerks spell his name) or just a typo.

The 188th New York first mustered on October 4, 1864 at Rochester, Monroe County, New York and mustered out July 1, 1865 in Washington, DC. The regiment was assigned to the 2nd Brigade, 1st Division, V Corps, Army of the Potomac for their duration of service. The regiment recruited from upstate New York counties so it is strange that Edward would have enlisted in this regiment. The 188 NY left the state October 13, 1864 and proceeded directly to Petersburg, Virginia.

Edward was wounded in the left hand at Hatcher's Run on February 7, 1865; three others were wounded during the same engagement. He was discharged on May 15, 1865 from hospital.

Edward first married Francis L. Bowman (1844-1888) and they had one son, Fred. Edward and Francis lived in the house across New Street in Monroeton from the Marcy Hotel. He was also Burgess of Monroeton.

After Francis died, Edward married Susannah H. _____ (1846-?) in 1894 but they did not have any children.

Edward died August 15, 1916 in Monroeton.

Children
