John Daly (1848-1915)

John Daly was born April 1848 in Limerick, Ireland to Michael Deely and Johanna O'Brien. He was baptized at St. Michael's Parish on Denmark Street in Limerick on April 14, 1850.

John joined the British Army May 8, 1862 (14 years) in Dublin; the same age that his brother James joined two years later. We do not know if he signed-up in Limerick or traveled to Dublin to sign up. John joined the Prince Consort's Own Rifle Brigade. He was a member of the band. He was discharged on May 7, 1868 at Ottawa, Canada; he was 20 years old.

John was naturalized on April 11, 1875 in Elmira, New York (26 years, 11 months). He was found in Waverly, New York in Tioga County by 1892 (NY Census).

John married Jane _____ (1856-?).

He died October 26, 1915 in Waverly and is buried in the Catholic cemetery in that town. John was 67 years, 6 months old.
