Joseph E. Daly

Joseph Eugene Daly was born August 4, 1892 in Sayre, Pennsylvania to James M. Daly (1850-1927) and Mary T. Maroney (1850-1928). He was the youngest of six (5 boys, 1 girl). He was generally known as "Eugene" or "Eugene Joseph" (sometimes). He was also known as "Bones" for his skinny frame in his younger days.

Eugene was a machinist with the Lehigh Valley Railroad (LVRR) in Sayre. Work was hard during the Great Depression so the family moved a lot ("one step ahead of the landlord" -- D. Daly). Eugene married Elizabeth L. Shay (1893-1977) on November 29, 1916 at SS Peter & Paul Parish in Towanda, Pennsylvania. He was 24 years old.

Eugene died suddenly on September 15, 1945 at his home in Towanda, Pennsylvania of a coronary occlusion. He was 53 years, 1 month, 11 days old.
