Sarah Elizabeth Huff was born November 6, 1841 in Sussex County, New Jersey. Her parents were William C. Huff (1818-1898) and Catharine Losey (1818-1882).

Sarah had a child, William H. Huff (1858-1909), out of wedlock. William Henry was then adopted by his maternal grandparents. The identity of his father is not known.

Sarah later married Simeon Earl (1843-1883).

Sarah married John C. Cron (1841-1922) on January 28, 1886 in Sussex County. John was a widower after his first wife, Rebecca Blackford (1845-1882), died. John and Rebecca had a daughter, Hannah Cron (c1869-?).
