William Coursen Huff was born March 18, 1818 in Sussex County, New Jersey to Peter Huff (c1772-c1830) and Sarah A. Hendershot (c1778-?). The family probably lived in Walpack Township.

William married Catharine Losey (1818-1882) on December 3, 1835 in Stillwater Township where her family lived. The family lived along the Flatbrookville-Stillwater road, which is still there but does not go all the way through any more. Flatbrookville was a village situated along the 'hook' in the Delaware River. Trade and travel was certainly affected by the river.

William married Mary Tirsa Hill (1832-1898) sometime after Catharine's passing. Mary Tirsa was the daughter of Enos Hill (1807-1889) and Mary Ann Snover (1807-1879). Her first husband was John H. Crawn (1828-1908).

He died October 10, 1898 in Walpack Township and is buried in the old Flatbrookville cemetery, which is on private land today.
